The medieval castle
The ruined hilltop castle has Norman origins and was rebuilt in the 14th and 16th centuries. Surviving eastern walls follow the rocky edge. Municipal historical accounts also mention San Teodoro and San Giorgio on the slopes. A Monte Castello redevelopment project was documented in 2025; this does not establish that works are complete or paths open.
